    2023-24 Committee Volunteer Opportunities
    (committee chair/co-chair positions are also noted)

     

    Teacher Appreciation: Help coordinate the gift giving for teachers and staff. Help coordinate the sign up and delivery of treats to the school lounge once a month to celebrate staff birthdays (mostly mornings at school drop off). 

     

    Book Fair: Be the liaison between the school and book fair distributor (e-Follet & Scholastic). Help with marketing and advertisement of the fair, help with set-up prior to fair, sales during the sale and take down of displays after the event. 

     

    Safety/Emergency Response: Be familiar with evacuation plans and help in school emergencies if needed. 

     

    Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Integrate multi-cultural activities into PTO events, ex: Black History month, Women's History month, Asian Pacific Heritage, Passport Night. Examples from previous years - create content to share over the announcements, create bulletin board displays, etc. Co-chair needed.

     

    Family Dance Party: Help organize, advertise, and run a family dance party. Chair needed.

     

    Fifth Grade Celebration: Work with committee chair on fundraising, planning and organizing of the Fifth Grade Celebration. This includes Trunk or Treat, concessions at Bingo and Family Movie Nights.

     

    Restaurant Fundraisers: Contact local restaurants for fundraisers that offer % of money back to SVE. Chair needed.

     

    School Office Support: Help coordinate volunteer coverage for the front office or library as needed. 

     

    Social Media: Communicate PTO information online - post blurbs regarding happenings at SVE on the PTO Facebook page, create events on Facebook for activities happening at school.

     

    Welcome Committee: Provide support and information to new SVE families via email or phone calls. 

     

    Yearbook: Collect and organize student and group photos. Help design the annual yearbook (like creating photobooks through Shutterfly). There are various ways to volunteer (photographer, page design, layout, tagline creator, etc.).

     

    School Carnival: Help plan and execute activities for our back-to-school carnival. Create sign up genius for sign-ups of booths, donations, concessions, etc. Be available on site for the day of the event. Boy Scout groups help run the activities the day of the event with adult supervision. 

     

    Beautification Committee: Assist with cleaning up the landscaping and laying down new mulch around the school, especially the flower beds in the front of the school.

     

    Bingo Night: Plan and run a game night for SVE families. Bingo materials are available for use. Come up with prizes and fun ways to play Bingo! High school students can help facilitate the games the night of. 

     

    Sports Night: Plan and help execute outdoor game night for SVE families. Chair needed.

     

    Pancake Breakfast: Prepare and help host/serve pancakes to the SVE community. 

     

    School Pictures: Work with school staff, committee chairs and photographers to ensure a smooth picture day. Volunteers work in 3-hour shifts. Volunteer for all the picture days or pick a few.

     

    Spirit Day: Help plan, organize, and facilitate a fun day of activities and entertainment for students on the last day of school. Previous years activities have included obstacle courses, pizza party, DJ/dance party, Magician, and a Juggler. 

     

    Talent Show: Organize the talent show which includes registration, auditions, rehearsals and the show. Co-chair needed.

     

    Trivia Night/Online Auction: Help plan and run an adult trivia night - solicit items for silent auctions, coordinate priceless items from grade levels, set up and take down at the event, helping with the theme and questions. Co-chair needed.

     

    Veterans Day Parade: Help school staff with the school parade, decorations, and Veterans' reception. Co-chair needed.


    Skate Night: Help organize, advertise, and run a family skating party. Chair needed.
