Keith Coons Scholarship Fund
Keith Coons, called himself the “accidental teacher," but students and colleagues alike knew teaching was his destiny. He spent 38 years teaching, the last 21 of which were in Parkway. In 2005, he was selected as Oak Brook’s Teacher of the Year. Through it all, he brought a sense of mischief and humor to his classroom and made each child feel validated and special.
After losing his battle with cancer in November 2006, Keith’s colleagues suggested establishing a scholarship fund in his honor. Monies from the Keith Coons Scholarship Fund will fund grants to Parkway students who have an interest in science, leadership or golf, as well as those with a hearing impairment.
