Activity:  6th grade camp counselor - Parkway Outdoor School Program
Description:  The Parkway Outdoor School Program utilizes high school students (grades 10-12) to serve as cabin leaders. Cabin leaders have the responsibility of supervising and leading a group of eight to twelve 6th grade students throughout the 4-day/3-night week. Interested high school students should complete the online application and print and distribute 3 teacher referral requests to school staff members who know them best. Description:  Anime (pronounced AH-nee-may ) is a term for a style of Japanese comic book and video cartoon animation in which the main characters have large doe-like eyes. Story lines are often very sophisticated and complex and extend into episodic series.

Description:  A tobacco prevention program presented by high school students who have made the commitment to model a tobacco-free lifestyle. The heroes will teach two upbeat lessons to 6th graders which focus on the health risks of tobacco use and the development of resistance skills.

Description:  This group creates an enthusiasm for scholarship, to foster the habit of service to others, to promote worthy leadership, and to encourage character development. Students with a career GPA of 3.6 are invited to seek membership during the second semester of 10th, 11th, and 12th grade. Applicants provide evidence of extracurricular involvement, service to school, and leadership. Inducted students must continue to uphold the standards of leadership, scholarship, character, and service.

Activity:  National Speech & Debate Association (NSDA)
Description:  NSDA empowers students to become effective communicators, ethical individuals, critical thinkers, and leaders in a democratic society. Such ideals are prompted through interscholastic competition that ranges from one-on-one debates to individually prepared speeches, both memorized and extemporaneous, to theatrical performance. Through immediate feedback from adults and coaches, students learn self-discipline, reflective learning, and the confidence to compete in life.
Meetings:  Our regular competitive season lasts from October until March. We begin preparing in August and September and we have post-season competitions in April and June. We practice each week but are flexible for when and where practices take place. This is essentially a three season sport, but with competitions happening most of the year you can pick and choose when you participate.

Description:  Twenty-five students (11th and 12th grade) are chosen and trained to work with 7th grade students as role models in areas such as integrity, responsibility, and uniqueness. Description:  Students compete in teams of two. They are given a solution of unknown concentration. Using burets and solutions and a procedure called titration they determine how concentrated the unknown solution is. The team that gets the closest to the actual concentration wins!
