THANK YOU OAK BROOK STUDENTS AND FAMILIES FOR YOUR PARTICIPATION AND SUPPORT OF THIS YEAR'S AHA CHALLENGE.

Oak Brook Elementary will be participating once again in the American Heart Association's Kids Heart Challenge community service project. This is our 17th year raising money to fight heart disease and defects. Last year our school placed in the Top 10 of all participating Missouri schools raising over $11,000 for heart research. Our goal this year is to raise $12,020 for heart research ($35 per student). You can view Oak Brook's webpage on the American Heart Association website at http://www2.heart.org/goto/oakbrook to view our progress towards the goal. NOTE: Only online donations are shown on the website until all donations are collected February 13th. PLEASE USE THE URL ADDRESS SHOWN PRIOR AS THERE MAY BE ANOTHER OAK BROOK SCHOOL IN THE AHA SYSTEM.
We look forward to this year's Healthy Hearts Spirit Week scheduled for Monday, February 10 - 13. During physical education classes on these days students will enjoy some heart-healthy activities and learn about keeping their heart healthy. There are many prizes to earn along the way for all donation levels. There will also be a special after-school event on February 27th for any student who reaches the individual donation goal of $35. Once again, the deadline for raising funds is Thursday, February 13th. Students will be asked to bring in their collection envelopes with any cash and checks they collected from Friday, February 7th to Thursday, February 13th. STUDENTS SHOULD NOT BRING ANY MONEY OR ENVELOPES TO SCHOOL UNTIL THIS WEEK. BE SURE TO USE THE AHA HEART HEROES ENVELOPES SENT HOME WITH THE STUDENTS.
Note: We realize that choosing charities to contribute towards is the decision of our Oak Brook families. We do not want your child to feel pressured to participate and raise money for any organization that you do not support or feel is not the best use of your hard-earned money. We have told our students that we DO NOT expect or want them to empty their piggy banks to try to earn the various give-aways. Nor do we want them to beg their parents to contribute money just to get the prizes. We hope you will give willingly from your heart the amount you feel comfortable giving. We ask your help in spreading the word to your close relatives and friends who may feel interested in donating to this worthy cause.
