What is the Youth Apprenticeship Accelerator?

Are you a hands-on learner interested in a career in Advanced Manufacturing? The Youth Apprenticeship program will provide you with experience in an authentic work setting while you work towards completing 2000 hours of paid on the job training with a company.

Career WayZ Youth Apprenticeship Accelerator students are building the skills employers need, and now they have even more opportunities to put them to work. This school year, Parkway, Lindbergh, Rockwood, Affton, Bayless, Mehlville, Brentwood, and Special School District joined the Youth Apprenticeship Accelerator, expanding access to paid, registered apprenticeships in advanced manufacturing.

Requirements:

Pre- Apprenticeship Application Process:

• Complete the online application 
• Maintain a 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) in Apprenticeship related Course work. (CTE courses)
• Maintain at least a 90 percent attendance record overall throughout apprenticeship
• Maintain at least a 95 percent on time record (approximately 4 or less tardies per semester).
• Passing all current courses.
• On track to graduate.
• Be authorized to work in the United States
• Receive two instructor recommendations
• Apprenticeship visit to Industry Partners
• Attend interview and orientation session

• Upon being hired, student apprentices must complete any pre employment tasks with industry partner.
• Sign Department of Labor 671 agreement and Parkway Schools Apprenticeship Agreement (Parent signature required for students under 18 years of age)
• Comply with all workplace safety policies and follow employer established policies and processes.
• Actively participate in providing personal narratives and feedback on their apprenticeship experience.
• Participate in periodic apprentice progress reviews by the Registered Youth Apprenticeship (RYA) Program Sponsor (Parkway Schools)
• Actively participate in employer led apprentice evaluations and apprenticeship relevant training sessions and track and provide their On the Job Learning (OJL) training hours.
• Complete 2000 hours of on the job training.
