Gifted Education (MOSAICS)

Parkway’s gifted education program is designed to meet the unique needs of identified students by providing engaging and challenging learning experiences through three curriculum strands: Complex Reasoning, Creative Thinking, and Affective Processing.
Students in gifted education progress in their experiences with advanced content and skills tied to these strands. Whole group activities focus on problem-solving and complex reasoning, while small group and individual tasks emphasize creative and productive thinking. Affective processing is also a critical component, helping students build emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and interpersonal skills that support both academic growth and social development.
Gifted services are provided through Parkway’s MOSAICS Program, which includes four levels of support:
-
Level 1: Differentiation and Enrichment Support
Available to all students, Level 1 provides classroom-based differentiation and enrichment designed to nurture emerging strengths and interests. -
Level 2: Targeted Enrichment Opportunities
At this level, students engage in enrichment experiences that extend learning and build on individual strengths. -
Level 3: Gifted Education Services (MOSAICS)
Students who meet Parkway’s gifted identification criteria receive direct services through the MOSAICS program, including instruction aligned with the gifted strands. -
Level 4: MOSAICS Academy
Parkway's MOSAICS Academy serves approximately 1% of the student population identified as exceptionally gifted. Housed at Pierremont Elementary and West Middle School, this specialized program provides a supportive and challenging environment designed to meet the advanced academic and social-emotional needs of these learners.
