Summer Reading Lists

Our school district’s 2026 Summer Reading Lists are here—packed with exciting stories, unforgettable characters, and fun discoveries for every age and interest. Keep young minds engaged and build strong reading habits to get a head start on the new school year. Whether your child loves graphic novels, mysteries, or nonfiction, there’s something on the list that will spark their imagination. 

Each summer, Parkway circulates new summer reading lists in a brochure or flyer format for grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and high school. The lists were adopted from ALSC (Association for Library Service to Children), ILA (International Literacy Association), MASL (Missouri Association of School Librarians), YALSA (Young Adult Library Services Association), and The Best of Titlewave from Follett. The criteria for many of the books on these lists were based on overall appeal, exposure to authors, diversity, genre variety, and relevance.

Ages 0-17 who register between June 1-4 will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win two tickets to the June 10 Circus Flora show.

Both library systems will offer programming throughout the summer, featuring music, comedy, magic, science experiments and more.

Sora Sweet Reads May 18th - August 24th, 2026

Sora Sweet Reads is back! This year's summer reading program will run from May 12th through August 25th with a mix of juvenile and young adult ebooks and select audiobooks.
