Closures and Alerts
When weather or circumstances result in a school or districtwide closure, we prioritize keeping families and staff aware and informed.
How do I find out about school closings or schedule changes?
Once a decision is made, we immediately:
- Notify families and staff using automated phone calls, text, and email notifications.
- Post an announcement on the homepage of the Parkway website.
- Post closure information on Parkway’s Facebook and Instagram accounts.
- Provide information to local TV and radio outlets
I’m not receiving Parkway notifications. How do I ensure I get these alerts?
Log in to the Infinite Campus Parent Portal here, or update your settings in the Infinite Campus Parent app.
As a parent, I’d rather not receive a 5 a.m. phone call on days when a snow day is called.
These decisions are often made very early on the morning of, and we send the notification out as soon as we know. To avoid getting a wake-up call:
- Download the Parkway Schools mobile app on Apple App Store here or the Google Play store here.
- Login to the Parkway mobile app, click your name/photo and then click "Edit Delivery Preferences."
- Under "Other" choose the phone number or numbers you want us to call (on snow days, for example), and/or where you would like to receive a text message or email. You can turn all or some of them off. The preferences you choose here will apply to all district and school messages.

What about before- and after-care during snow days or other closures?
Adventure Club will not be open if school closes due to weather or any other reason. If Parkway is on a snow schedule (2-hour delayed start), Adventure Club will not be open before school, but after-school will be available.
What exactly is a Snow Schedule?
We sometimes call for a snow schedule – or late start – to allow time for road conditions or weather to improve. On a snow schedule, all schools open two hours later than normal. Bus stop pick-up times are two hours later, and employees report to school two hours later than usual. Schools dismiss at normal times and after-school activities and Community Education classes are held as usual.
How many snow days can Parkway have per school year?
We have three snow days built into our calendar. Once we’ve used three days, the fourth would be a virtual learning snow day.
