Sustainability

Parkway School District recognizes the importance of environmental sustainability and is committed to ensuring ongoing programs conserve energy and other resources. The Office of Sustainability is responsible for the design, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive District-wide energy and resource conservation program, waste management program, and environmental sustainability program.
Our role within the District reaches and impacts every building and person within the school system, as well as parents and taxpayers through its fiscal implications. More specifically, we are responsible for resource and energy managment, site efficiency upgrades, waste diversion, goal setting and benchmarking, ENERGYSTAR reporting and certifications, management of the District's solar installations, staff and student behavior change initiatives and project mentorship, lighting and controls upgrades, Better Buildings Challenge participation, project management and commissioning, monitoring of District sustainability practices and board policies, garnering cost savings and incentives, and IAQ/IEQ along with the District's Environmental Services office.
