Patriot Unity Group
Patriot Unity Groups (PUG) were established in 2007. During an 8th grade “Summit”, an 8th grader thought it would be a good idea if students could make connections across grade levels. We decided to try out PUG, initially a few times a year. Every teacher was assigned a PUG group comprised of 6th, 7th and 8th graders who would roll with the same teacher and PUG group year after year. Our first activities were mainly focused around team building. Year after year PUG began to grow as teachers and students positively responded to PUG.
Our big idea in PUG is: “You are free to be yourself, and so is everyone else.”
