Mrs. Peg Dunsworth
Teaching experience: I taught elementary art for 9 years in the Mehlville School District. I started in the Parkway School District at Green Trails Elementary. After loving those students for six years, I had the opportunity to go to Parkway West High School. I started at Parkway West in 2003 with Drawing, Painting, Design Arts and AP Studio Art. Now I focus on Drawing, Painting, AP Studio Art as well as AP Art History. I'm very proud to be teaching AP Art History online as well.
AP Reader: In year 2012 I was asked to be an AP Reader for the AP Studio Art Exam. I am so proud of that accomplishment and have gotten asked back for each year to 2017. I hope I keep that track record and continue that opportunity. The reader experience has helped me to learn about the College Board process of grading the exams. It has made me a better teacher, communicator and artist. There are approximately 150 art educators from colleges and high schools across the country. In year 2016, we read 56,000 portfolios in a seven-day period.
Trips with students: As an art educator, I have had the opportunity to go on several trips to Europe with our high school students. We have been to Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, London and I have been a chaperone for two trips to Germany with the German students. I have learned so much about the different cultures, art and architecture by taking students to other parts of the world. It has been a true gift as an educator to learn along side my students in other parts of the world.
