After 25+ years of friendship, longtime Parkway parent and teacher will be honored this spring!

Nancy Simpson mother of four Parkway graduates and 10+ year teacher at Carmen Trails is known best for her loving spirit, passion for Parkway, and desire to make our community a better place!

If you spent any time around Nancy you know her love for Parkway comes after raising four children k-12 through Barretts Elementary, Parkway South Middle, and High School. It’s through her friends, former co-workers, and students that we all know the love and impact of Nancy. After a shocking cancer diagnosis and ending battle, Nancy’s friends hope to honor her where they spent many mornings walking and enjoying each other’s company - Queeny Park!

"As a mother of multiples, you really can’t just meet for lunch each week, but a meeting to exercise is certainly a priority when raising young ones” Lynda Boyd, friend of Nancy and race coordinator.

“It really is an exciting event where in the early parts of the pandemic we were unable to celebrate Nancy and all she’s left behind. I hope this race is a joyous time for our community and truly a celebration of all she has done for our schools”

Please join us in the Above and Beyond 5k to honor and celebrate Nancy Simpson.

The race will benefit the "Granting Dreams Program", a memorial fund set up in Nancy's name. This charity enables Parkway School District K-12 enables students to attend and learn in educational experiences outside their regular curriculum. Teaching, learning, and helping students were more of Nancy's passions where she went above and beyond.

The 5k will start promptly at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, 4/2/22. The kids 100 yard dash will follow the walk/run at 10:00 a.m.

The 5K will start on the trail beside this parking lot on the Weidman Road side of Queeny, and run west on the trail before turning across the road north to do a big loop, and will come back the same way (Course map linked below under Directions). There should be plenty of parking in this main lot, but overflow parking is available in the other lots.

We hope to see you there!
