Adult Education & Literacy

The Parkway-Rockwood Adult Education and Literacy/English as a Second Language Program has been around since 1969.  We offer free Adult Basic Education and High School Equivalency Test Prep classes as well as English as a Second Language and Substitute Teacher/Paraprofessional Certification classes.  During the 2025 school year, the Parkway-Rockwood AEL Program served 1000 adult students, over half of whom were ESL adults. 

We offer classes in the following school districts: Parkway, Rockwood, Pattonville, Clayton, Ladue, Brentwood, Hazelwood, Maplewood-Richmond Heights, and Lemay.  Students do not have to be residents of any of these districts in order to enroll in our classes. 

We are funded with federal and state monies.  The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is responsible for administering our program in cooperation with the local school districts we serve.
