Building improvements continue funded by Prop S 2022 bond issue

2/13/2025 -- The Parkway community approved a $265 million bond issue in November 2022. Thanks to your support, school building improvement projects are underway and will continue through 2028.

At a recent Board of Education meeting, we provided an update on our progress.

Recently completed projects this school year include:

  • Roof replacement - Hanna Woods, Central Middle, Henry and Ross

  • Hanna Woods - windows, doors, and parking lot 

  • South High - flooring

  • River Bend Elementary - classroom additions, elevator, fire suppression, and storm shelter renovations are in progress and are scheduled to be completed by summer 2025.

High school pool and locker room renovations have begun. The timeline for completion of all high school pool and locker room renovations is:

  • North High (February 2025)

  • Central High (Summer 2025)

  • South High (2026)

  • West High (2027)

Key projects coming soon:

  • Central High - new HVAC heating/cooling units, gym bleachers and cafeteria renovation (Summer 2025-2026)

  • Craig Elementary - Remodeling of the school, including new walls, lights, doors, heating/cooling and fire suppression (2025-2027)

  • McKelvey Intermediate - parking lots and sidewalk (2025)

  • Northeast Middle - bathroom renovations, new choir room, accessibility, electrical, heating/cooling and sewer updates

  • South Middle - parking lot addition, roof renovation, water heater, and sprinklers

  • North High - New entrance and Family and Consumer Sciences addition

Our community prioritized replacing updated aging playgrounds to make them safe and accessible. Here’s an update on playground progress: 

  • Playground replacements are complete at Barretts Elementary, Hanna Woods Elementary, McKelvey Intermediate and Primary

  • Sorrento Springs, Wren Hollow, and Highcroft Elementary playgrounds are set to open this winter/spring.

  • Oak Brook Elementary and River Bend Elementary are scheduled for this summer, 2025

  • Playground replacements will continue at all 18 elementary schools and preschool locations through 2028.

Project timelines may be adjusted based on supply chain, workforce, permitting, or unforeseeable emerging needs.
