Swim champions make a splash

11/28/2023 -- Congratulations to the boys swim and dive teams from Central, West and South high schools for finishing first, second and fourth at the MSHAA Class 1 State Championship.

Carter Crook, South High senior, is state champion in the Class 1 boys 100-yard backstroke with an impressive time of 49.79.

Central High had several individual state champions in addition to several new records. Central High’s boys swim and dive team won back-to-back state champions.

The Central High varsity boys swim and dive team is led by head coach Andrew John Schonhoff and assistant coaches Abigail VerMeer and Natalie Kirner. The South High varsity boys swim and dive team is led by head coach Blakeleigh Mathes and assistant coaches Jeremy Nichols, Elizabeth Andrews, and Jenoa Olson.
