West Middle P.E. program receives Exemplary Program award
8/28/2017 -- The Physical Education Program at West Middle has been awarded the Exemplary Program award by the Missouri Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance for 2017. The award will be presented at the awards banquet at the association’s annual convention on November 11 at The Lodge of Four Seasons in Lake Ozark, Missouri. This is the only Exemplary Program award to be bestowed this year.
To qualify for the award, the faculty in the program submitted an application portfolio that contains a self-assessment of program qualities relating to the learning environment, instructional strategies, the curriculum, and methods used for assessing student growth. In addition, faculty included credentials relating to their qualifications and professional growth, how the program addresses the school wellness goals, and awards and recognitions earned by the faculty and the program.
The application process was coordinated by Krystalynn Glore and Molly Benson, with contributions from additional faculty members Kevin Bueltemann, Michael Carmi, Justa Dahl, Drew Lilledahl and Anthony McNabb.
The nearly 80-year old MOAHPERD organization serves the Health Education, Dance Education, Physical Education as a primary provider of high-quality professional development activities. With members employed mainly in schools and universities, many are also involved in wellness programs in their communities.
