Changes to the 2020-21 calendar
8/19/2020 – At the August 19 meeting, Parkway’s Board of Education voted to revise the calendar for the 2020-21 school year.
The calendar committee met on August 4 to discuss changes needed to the current calendar as a result of the shift to Distance Learning for the first quarter of this school year. This shift requires us to adjust our calendar with new dates that align with the end of each quarter grading term.
Changes to the 2020-21 calendar are below:
- Removal of all 2-Hour Early Release Days (Sept. 23, Oct. 21, Nov. 18, Dec. 9, Jan. 27, Feb. 10, March 3, April 14, May 5). Students will be in attendance for full days adding instructional minutes.
- Addition of two half-days for high school final schedule per quarter (Oct. 22/23, Jan. 13/14, March 31/April 1, June 2/3). High school students will complete the same number of courses over the first half of the year as they would have in the previous semester schedule. Having courses end at the quarters will allow students to more easily move between Distance Learning and attending in-person as the health situation evolves throughout the year.
- Addition of full Records Days (PK-12) to mirror quarter high school final schedules (Oct. 26, Jan. 15, April 5, June 4). Students will not be in attendance these days.
- Change of full-day Records/Professional Development day to full teaching day (Nov. 13).
- Change of half-day Professional Development to full teaching days (preschool through 12th grade) and on Oct. 8 and Feb. 25. Students in preschool to eighth-grade will be in attendance on April 1 for a full day. However, high school students will be in school for a half-day for final exams.
