11/25/2024 – Two Parkway students scored 36 — the highest possible score —on the ACT college admissions and placement exam. South High senior Sophie Kraujalis earned a composite score of 36 during the June test date, while West High senior Stephen McAllister scored a 36 in July.

Less than 1% of students who take the ACT earn a perfect score. In the U.S. high school graduating class of 2023, only 2,542 out of 1.39 million students earned a top composite score of 36.

The ACT consists of English, mathematics, reading, and science tests, each scored on a scale of 1-36. A student’s composite score is the average of the four test scores. The ACT’s optional writing test score is reported separately and not included within the ACT composite score.

The ACT is a curriculum-based achievement exam that measures what students have learned in school. Students who earn a 36 have likely mastered all of the skills and knowledge they will need to succeed in first-year college courses in core subject areas.

All major four-year colleges and universities across the United States accept ACT scores.
