Loretta Smith named Principal of Central Middle
3/13/25 - Loretta Smith has been selected as the next principal of Central Middle School, beginning July 1. She will follow Dr. Cathy Lorenz, who is retiring at the end of the school year and has been an outstanding leader since becoming principal in 2020.
Ms. Smith brings extensive experience in middle school education, with a focus on student success, instructional leadership, and community engagement. She currently serves as an assistant principal in the City of St. Charles School District, where she supports curriculum, student interventions, and school-wide programs. Before that, she spent seven years in Parkway as an English Language Arts teacher and department chair, leading professional development and mentoring new educators at South Middle School.
“I am thrilled Loretta is returning to Parkway, where she had begun her educational career,” said Superintendent Dr. Keith Marty. “She brings back a wealth of experiences as an instructional leader and administrator. Loretta is invested in the success of all students and will work to ensure students find a way to be engaged in the school and develop their talents and interests. We are so fortunate to be able to welcome her back to Parkway.”
“Parkway is where I started my education career, and I am beyond elated for this journey to come full circle,” Ms. Smith said. “Thank you to the Caring Colts community for trusting me to lead Central Middle School. I am honored to serve and incredibly thankful for the opportunity to continue the amazing work and success for all students and staff.”
Ms. Smith holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from Northwest Missouri State University and is currently pursuing her education specialist degree in superintendency. She is a dedicated advocate for student success and lifelong learning.
