Michael Baugus named Parkway’s chief human resources officer

Photo of Mike Baugus 11/14/2019 -- Dr. Michael Baugus has been selected as the chief human resources officer for Parkway, effective July 1, 2020.

Baugus is well known in Parkway and across the region as an experienced educator and administrator. He is currently the principal of Parkway Central Middle School, where he has served for 19 years. He began his career as a middle school science teacher in the Kirkwood School District.

Baugus is a lifelong Parkway student, alumnus, and educator. He has demonstrated a consistent commitment to Parkway’s mission and goals, by fully embracing Parkway traditions, complemented with a strong vision for our future. His vast service and dedication to the Parkway community were recognized with a Pillar of Parkway award in 2014. 

Superintendent Keith Marty said, “I am thrilled to have this opportunity for Mike to serve Parkway in this new capacity. I’m confident he will be an effective facilitator and supporter of our teachers, staff, principals and schools, and a tremendous leader.”

Baugus has served and led many school and district initiatives, including work with teacher negotiations, the benefits committee and collaboration on many hiring teams.

He holds a doctorate in educational administration from Maryville University and a master’s in educational administration from Lindenwood University. His bachelor of science in education was earned from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

 Baugus replaces Amy Joyce who is retiring after six years of service with the district.
