South High's Anne Erehart selected as St. Louis Regional Teacher of the Year
7/21/2023 -- South High math teacher Anne Erehart has been named one of 34 regional honorees in the Missouri Teacher of the Year program.
EducationPlus and the St. Louis Regional Professional Development Center selected Erehart as one of 10 awardees from the St. Louis region, chosen by a committee of nine education professionals as teachers of excellence. She is now eligible to participate at the state level in the Missouri Teacher of the Year program, which is conducted annually by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
On August 7, the honorees will be celebrated at a banquet along with their peers, school administrators and family members.
Erehart was named the Parkway District Teacher of the Year, as well as the district’s High School Teacher of the Year in February and honored at Appreciation Evening on April 24.
“Love kids and teach good math.” She lives this practice every day. You will find Erehart working tirelessly with students before and after school to help those who need her. She remains steadfast in her commitment to her students and her profession. She is an excellent educator and a role model for her colleagues and students alike. She is continuously seeking out new learning opportunities in an effort to make her lessons relevant for student learners.
The Teacher of the Year program recognizes and honors the contributions of the classroom teacher, as no one has a greater impact on the education of a child than a teacher who creates a learning environment where children flourish and grow. The mission of the Missouri Teacher of the Year program is to honor, promote and celebrate excellence in the teaching profession.
The regional honorees will submit their applications to the Missouri State Teacher of the Year program. DESE will then select a Missouri Teacher of the Year in October 2023. The Missouri Teacher of the Year will automatically become a candidate for the National Teacher of the Year honor.
