Early Childhood Center Recognized as 2023 National School of Character

Parkway Early Childhood Center-(Parkway ECC) is located in Ballwin, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis and
serves over 600 pre-kindergarten students.

Parkway’s character journey is focused on "Parker's Promise", which is centered on: Take care of myself. Take care of each other. Take care of my school and home. Take care of my world. The touchstone serves to ensure all students are
“capable, curious, caring and confident learners who understand and respond to the challenges of an ever-changing world.”

Stakeholders enthusiastically describe how these core values permeate every aspect of Parkway. Students, staff, and community members are proud of the reach of their character work both in and out of the walls of Parkway. Character development has a strong presence in families. In the words of a parent, Tasha Hudson, “Parkway is magical, it’s a special place, your children will be known. They feel safe emotionally and physically to be themselves.”

As a 2017 National School of Character, Parkway has continued to shine, focusing on family engagement, community engagement and service learning projects.
