Parkway Votes
10/15/2024 – As we approach the 2024 presidential election, we want to share how Parkway plans to engage our students during this important time. Parkway has a long tradition of helping students become informed, engaged citizens in the election process. This includes supporting opportunities for eligible students to register to vote and hosting mock elections for all students regardless of age.
This year’s mock election, “Parkway Votes,” is an opportunity for students to learn about the democratic process, understand the importance of lifelong voting habits, and increase communication with their families about the value of civic engagement. Families are encouraged to talk with their children about their values around voting.
This year’s election can raise highly charged topics. We are committed to helping every student develop a strong sense of social and civic responsibility and the characteristics found in our Vision for a Learner. This includes helping students become critical thinkers and connected citizens. Students are encouraged to critically and objectively evaluate information, ideas, and perspectives while embracing the collaborative power of diverse viewpoints.
