Staying safe during severe storms
2/27/25 - Spring weather can be unpredictable, but the safety of students and staff is always our top priority. Here's what families need to know about Parkway’s weather protocols when severe spring weather hits.
What Happens During Severe Weather?
The situation will depend on the severity and timing of weather.
- Taking Cover: If there's a tornado warning in our area, students and staff will move to designated areas until the tornado warning ends.
-
Early Dismissal: If dangerous weather is expected at dismissal, we may dismiss early to get students home safely.
-
Delays in Dismissal: If lightning, strong winds, or other dangerous weather conditions occur at dismissal, students will stay indoors in designated safe areas. Dismissal will resume only when conditions are safe.
-
Bus Delays: Severe weather may delay buses leaving school or arriving at stops. We’ll notify impacted families as soon as possible.
