Employee Benefits Update

March 19, 2020

Greetings,
The information below addresses medical, pharmacy, and employee assistance program concerns regarding COVID-19.

Will the District pay for coronavirus/Covid-19 testing?

Yes, as long as the testing is provided at an approved location in accordance with U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.  If you are billed for the test, please forward your receipts to Brian Whittle (bwhittle@parkwayschools.net) or Tierra Morris (tmorris@parkwayschools.net).  Reimbursement will then be added to your next payroll deposit.

UHC is working to modify our plan so that members will pay nothing at the time of testing regardless of the plan(Premium, Base or HSA) you are on.However, that will not be ready until April 1.

Does my health benefits cover COVID-19 treatment?

The District's health plans cover treatment for COVID-19.  Normal co-pays, deductibles and coinsurance will apply.

This is a very stressful time. What resources are available to help?

We all feel different things at different times and we will continue to do so as the pandemic evolves, it’s a roller coaster ride of emotions. The good news is that these feelings are normal and the even better news is we all have qualities that can help us be resilient. We just need to activate them. It is equally important to address any emotions that are causing excessive worry including feelings of being out of control, unable to function or think clearly. Contact PAS, our employee assistance program, at (800) 356-0845 if you need assistance.

Please refer to the benefit website for EAP and telemental health as well.

Will the CareATC clinics provide testing?

Unfortunately the clinics are not set up for this type of testing.  If you believe you have been exposed to COVID-19 please do not go to the clinics.  Contact your primary physician or near-by hospital for instructions on your next steps.

The clinics have set up virtual visits for people experiencing symptoms.  Please call them or use the app to schedule a virtual appointment.

Can I refill my prescriptions early?

Having access to your medication is extremely important.  Our plan’s refill policy allows you to refill when you have 25-35% of your current medication on hand.  That will be enough to get through a 14 day quarantine in most cases. If you do need more can have it filled through home delivery available through the express scripts website. You can also call express scripts at 1- 800-282-2881. There is also an express scripts app that can be downloaded.

If you are looking for a longer-term supply ask your doctor for a 90-day supply. Your pharmacist can also help you obtain the longer-term subscription.

Thanks,
