Parkway is making the grade with the safety of school buses

4/24/2024 -- The Parkway bus fleet of over 140 buses passed annual inspections, conducted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, with a score of 97% first-time pass rate.

The results not only reinforce Parkway’s commitment to student safety but the district will once again be recognized with the Exemplary Fleet Maintenance award from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and the Missouri Highway Patrol for Fleet Excellence. Fleet Excellence is only awarded to school districts with a 90% pass rate and no "out of service" vehicles.

During the inspection, of 146 buses, five buses were found with minor defects which were quickly repaired, re-inspected, and passed. A defect needs to be repaired, but it is minor enough that the bus can still be driven.

The Parkway bus fleet has scored above 90% for 33 of the last 35 years.
