Update on superintendent search process
8/29/2024 -- The Board of Education unanimously selected Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA) to lead a national search for the next superintendent of Parkway Schools at its meeting on August 28.
HYA was established in 1987 and is one of the oldest and largest national search firms, assisting more than 1,600 school boards select exceptionally talented leadership. The firm has a strong reputation for deep and meaningful community and staff engagement in its search process.
The Board and HYA will hold a public meeting on September 4 to outline the process and timeline for the search.
On June 5, Superintendent Dr. Keith Marty announced he would retire at the end of the 2024-25 school year after 14 years of leading Parkway and nearly 50 years in public education. The Board of Education expressed its intent to conduct a national search for the next superintendent and published a request for proposals on June 17. Ten firms responded.
The board then individually evaluated each of the 10 proposals based on the following criteria:
-
Knowledge of the Parkway School District
-
Experience
-
References
-
Quality of the work plan
-
Cost
-
Timeline
-
Additional services provided by the firm or individual
In a public meeting on August 20, the Board interviewed the three firms it had rated the highest. Based on members’ ratings and recommendations from that process, Board President Jeff Todd recommended HYA, and the Board voted in agreement. The cost of the contract to lead the national search is not to exceed $46,950.
We need your help identifying the best leader for Parkway's future. As part of the search process this fall, staff, parents, students, and community members will be invited to help determine the qualities needed in our next superintendent. We will continue to share updates on this work and how you can participate after the September 4 meeting.
