Dr. Gretchen Morrison named principal of Claymont Elementary
Dr. Gretchen Morrison has been selected as the next principal of Claymont Elementary, beginning July 1. She will follow Dr. Nathan Burch, who has provided outstanding leadership and fostered a strong community at Claymont, and is moving on to a new leadership role in a neighboring district.
Dr. Morrison brings more than 20 years of experience in education, with a strong focus on student success, staff collaboration, and family engagement. She currently serves as the assistant principal at Keysor Elementary in the Kirkwood School District, where she works closely with students, staff, and families to foster a positive and inclusive school culture. Prior to this role, she was an assistant principal at Heritage Primary in the Wentzville School District, leading school improvement efforts focused on student growth and equity.
Dr. Morrison is no stranger to Parkway. Her two decades in education include serving as an instructional coach, literacy coach and classroom teacher in our schools. She has also been a STEM instructor and a university adjunct professor.
Superintendent Dr. Keith Marty said he’s excited about welcoming her back. “Dr. Morrison was a valued and talented educator in Parkway before continuing her career in the region,” he said. “Returning as the principal of Claymont, Dr. Morrison brings an outstanding instructional focus and collaborative leadership skills that continue the strong leadership traditions of school and community.”
“I am honored to return to Parkway as the next principal of Claymont Elementary,” Dr. Morrison said. “Claymont is a school with a rich tradition of excellence and a strong sense of community. I look forward to partnering with the incredible students, staff, and families to build on Claymont’s success and continue fostering meaningful learning experiences for all."
Dr. Morrison holds a doctorate in educational administration from Maryville University, where she also earned her master’s degree. She is deeply committed to lifelong learning and creating opportunities for all students to thrive.
