What is an audiobook? An audiobook is a recording of a book being read out loud. Audiobooks can be found in a variety of formats including, CDs and digital files which can be downloaded directly to a computer or mobile device.
Where can I find an audiobook?
West High Library
- CD - discs for computer of CD player, not downloadable
- Playaway - MP3 files, come in a plastic case that contains the Playaway unit, battery, earphones, and a lanyard. Plug in earphones and press play.
- MP3-CD - – eliminates downloading so students can listen to audiobooks on their iPods and other MP3 devices. Books are on one disc and students can easily transfer to Windows Media Player or iTunes. Unlimited access.
- West High downloadable audiobook - available through the Destiny Discover website or mobile app. Listen on the computer or check out and download to a mobile device. Download the Destiny Discover app through the app store and login with your netword username and password.
Public Library - The St. Louis County Library lend audiobooks for free (CD, Playaway) by visiting your local branch. They also use Overdrive to lend audiobooks that you can download directly to your mobile device through the Overdrive app. You must have a library card to utilize these services.
