• Dear Scholars and Parents/Guardians,

The faculty, staff, counselors, and administrators at Northeast Middle are looking forward to the start of the 2024-2025 school year! It is important to us that we are building relationships, we are ensuring each scholar matters, and using every moment with purpose.

This Course Request Handbook has been prepared to help you plan your educational journey for the next school year and for the years that follow. It is important that you do your planning and course selection very carefully, as course requests are final. Course requests are final and generally there are no schedule changes.

In the following pages, you will find descriptions of the courses offered in grades six, seven, and eight. Please read the information thoroughly and make your selections carefully. Your choices are one of the most important factors that go into our planning for the upcoming school year, so we thank you in advance for thoughtfully selecting courses and taking this process seriously.

For incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th graders, we have an option of Team I.N.S.P.I.R.E. (Investigating New Solutions for Problems in Real-World Experiences). Scholars opting for this team will experience a different, innovative scheduling approach that will incorporate hands-on problem solving through interdisciplinary problem-based learning. Please note that all teams are randomized and expressing interest in this team does not guarantee placement on this team. If you have any questions about the selection process for this team, please feel free to reach out to me.

Counselors, faculty, staff, and administrators, are happy to answer any questions you may have. Please feel free to contact any of us at any time.

Northeast Middle School is a National School of Character where we focus on our Viking Values (Compassion, Integrity, Resilience, Respect, Responsibility). Our school works under the notion to ensure Equity and Excellence while incorporating Character Education, Restorative Practices, and Trauma Informed Practices. It is a fantastic place for our scholars to learn, grow, develop, and lead. We are sure that your school year at Northeast Middle will be a challenging and rewarding educational experience. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you need any assistance or have any questions.

Please remember all registration requests are final and I want to stress the importance of carefully reading this handbook and discussing it prior to final selections.
