    Where Do Our Funds Go?

Green Trails PTO provides funding and volunteers for enrichment programs, teacher appreciation, school parties and support of activities. At the end of each year, PTO provides the school with funds to improve our school facilities, technology, curriculum, and instruction. These purchases help keep Green Trails a leader in Parkway and provides every student of the Green Trails community with the innovative, cutting edge materials and facilities.

With the funds provided from the 2022-2023 school year, the PTO purchased the
    following:

A LCD laser projector for the GT gym: The projector has significantly enhanced our Physical Education classes, assemblies, and school events. In PE classes, the projector provides high-quality visual support, allowing students to follow instructional videos, demonstrations, and interactive activities easily. This visual aid helps students grasp concepts more quickly and enhances their overall learning experience. The Monday Morning Meetings and assemblies are now more engaging, as students can clearly see videos and slides, ensuring that everyone is on the same page and fully engaged. Our concerts have been greatly improved with the addition of the projector. Visuals and multimedia presentations complement the performances, creating a more immersive and enjoyable experience for both students and families. The safety of our students has also been enhanced, as we no longer need to roll a cart with equipment around the gym. The projector is permanently installed, streamlining our instruction and presentations, making setup and transitions smoother and more efficient. This improvement impacts each student, enriching their educational experience and making our school events more dynamic and enjoyable.

With the funds provided from the 2023-2024 school year the PTO purchased the
    following:

Green Trails PTO Executive Board approved to support the Green Trails Educators in their implementation of a new ELA curriculum for the Parkway School District, the Benchmark Advance program, new ELA curriculum that aligns with the latest Science of Reading research. This program is designed to provide a cohesive structure for developing literacy skills and content knowledge, ensuring that each and every student
benefits from evidence-based materials. To support our Green Trails teachers in implementing this new curriculum effectively,
t he PTO has the opportunity to fund substitute teachers for release time. Specifically, we aim to provide five half-day substitute teachers for each  grade level team throughout the school year. This release time is instrumental in allowing our teachers to collaborate and receive professional development with Mrs. Volk, ensuring a smooth and effective rollout of the new curriculum. The importance of rolling out a new curriculum cannot be overstated. Proper implementation with adequate release time allows our teachers to fully understand and utilize the new materials, ultimately enhancing the educational experience and growth of every Green Trails student. By supporting this initiative, we are investing in the future
success of our children and their literacy development.

The new Benchmark Advance curriculum comes with a wealth of interactive materials designed to engage and support our students. These materials include learning cards, games, activities, and various hands-on resources that make learning both fun and effective. To ensure the longevity and continued use of these valuable resources, the PTO has generously funded the purchase of a new GBC Ultima 55 Thermal Roll EZLoad Laminator for our school. With the new laminator, we can preserve and protect these interactive materials, allowing them to be used by students for years to come. Laminating items such as learning cards, games, and activities means they will withstand daily use and remain in excellent condition, providing consistent support for students; literacy and content knowledge development. This investment not only enhances the immediate learning
experience but also ensures that future students will benefit from these high-quality
    materials.

In addition to these items, with the use of a Gator Grant, a newly implemented grant that individual grade levels can request specific items through, funds supported Green Trails third grade team with items to allow flexible seating throughout their classrooms.

Previous years' major gifts have included:

    Google Expedition Glasses (2019)

a new Marquee (2020), additional picnic benches (2020) and iPads and digital art program

(2021), ukeleles (2021), Makerspace tables (2021), grade level learning materials
    (2021). Dremel Diglab 3D Printer

(2022), Pevo Park Series Soccer Goals (2022),
    Garden Shed (2022).

Green Trails staff, students, and families have often expressed how grateful they are for
the generosity of the broader Green Trails Community. PTO looks forward to
supporting the building and our children in ways that support our students' growth and
we are so grateful for your support in the past years and going forward.
