5th Grade
Dear Families,
Welcome to fifth grade at McKelvey Elementary School! I am pleased to have the opportunity to share the school year with you. Hopefully it will become quickly apparent to you that I take great pride in being a teacher and love my students. I am honored to be part of the team here at McKelvey.
This will be my seventh year here at McKelvey Elementary. Previously, I have had experiences teaching 7th grade Communication Arts and 4th grade here in Parkway, as well as 4th grade in a private school.
Teaching is not just my job. It is a responsibility that I take very seriously. My mission is to encourage my students to become life-long learners by assisting them in looking for a learning experience in every situation. We will have many opportunities this year to learn from each other. I also want to instill in my students a love for learning that will encourage them to become capable, curious, and confident learners. I enjoy watching students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. I treasure the relationships that are built with my students and their families.
I am not here simply to teach math, science, social studies, reading and writing; I teach children. I assure you I strive to be the kind of teacher that I desire form my own family. Every child deserves and will receive my respect and understanding. In return, I expect their respect, understanding, and cooperation as we make this 5th grade journey together.
I look forward to meeting all of you as we progress through the year. I believe children are most successful in school when teachers and parents work together. You will be hearing from me through notes, letters, phone calls, or e-mails. The best way to reach me is via email. I want to be an important person in your child's education, but I also realize the importance of you, your child's first teacher. Together we can make this an enjoyable and productive year for your child. Our classroom door is always open with a warm welcome.
Your child's year in fifth grade will be a time of tremendous growth! My expectations are very high, but my heart is even bigger. I am willing to share both with your family. In my experiences with children, I have found this to be a winning combination for my students.
.
Sincerely yours,
Mr. Beutel
