Kristen Harms named Sorrento Springs principal

3/20/2024 -- Kristen Harms has been selected as the next principal of Parkway’s Sorrento Springs Elementary, effective July 1.

Harms has been with Parkway Schools since 2018. Currently, she is the assistant principal at Claymont Elementary. She’s held other positions in Parkway, including a virtual developer with Teaching Learning and Accountability and an instructional coach at Highcroft Ridge Elementary.

Before joining Parkway, Harms was a fourth-grade teacher in the Webster Groves School District and also served as a social studies curriculum coordinator. She was also a parent educator with the Valley Park School District. She began her teaching career as a kindergarten teacher with Webster Groves.

“Kristen is a positive, dedicated, and child-centered leader,” said Dr. Tiffany Holman-Besse, deputy superintendent. “Her passion and experience with personalized learning will allow Sorrento Springs to continue providing our students and community with unique opportunities to learn and grow. I am excited about Kristen's transition to the principalship and look forward to her continued success as a leader in Parkway!”

Harms has a master’s of school administration from Columbia College, and a master’s of education curriculum and instruction from the University of Missouri, Columbia. She holds a bachelor of science from the University of Missouri, St. Louis.

Harms replaces Aaron Wills who is retiring in June.
