The Coach Schnell Athletic Giving Fund has been created to provide financial assistance to Parkway Central High School student athletes in grades 9-12 who are actively participating in a Parkway sports team. The Coach Schnell Grant is administered through the Parkway Alumni Association Granting Dreams program and may fully or partially cover the needs for camp participation, equipment, individual coaching or educational opportunities.
Born in 1924, John Schnell was an extremely accomplished high school athlete and student. He was fortunate to have coaching mentors giving him guidance and assistance throughout his career. Coach Schnell was a member of the very first faculty at Parkway in 1958. His passion to assist young athletes and students to reach their full potential was a driving force in his daily teaching and coaching.
Coach Schnell passed away in November 2021. He was an active leader and mentor of the Parkway Family for 54 years. Coach’s children (Donna, Class of 1970) and (Butch, 1974) both graduated from Parkway Central and have established this Giving Fund in his honor and memory.
Donations to the Fund will give student athletes in need at Parkway Central the opportunity to reach their full potential and realize their dreams.
