• PARKWAY SOUTH HIGH 2023-2024 

    PERFORMING GROUPS:

    A CAPPELLA (Taylor Hawkins) group is open by audition to all grade levels for students that are currently enrolled in a choir class. Groups perform two major concerts each school year and may perform in an all A-Cappella concert in the Spring semester.

    FRESHMAN TREBLE CHOIR (Taylor Hawkins) Open to all Freshman treble (higher pitched) voices. Students perform in four major concerts each school year. 

    FRESHMAN BARITONE CHOIR (Taylor Hawkins) Open to all Freshman baritone (lower pitched) voices. Students perform in four major concerts each school year. 

    CONCERT CHOIR MIXED (Taylor Hawkins) Sophomore through Senior treble and baritone voices. Students perform in four major concerts each school year. This course may be taken for the Honors option.   

    ADVANCED CHAMBER CHOIR (Taylor Hawkins) Exceptional Junior and Senior treble and baritone voices based on audition. Students perform in four major concerts each school year. This course may be taken for the Honors option. 

    COLOR GUARD (Nicole Grinberg) Students are selected by audition, who perform choreographed flag and rifle routines at performances and competitions with the band during the marching season.

    FACTORY RESET:  IMPROV/SKETCH TEAM (Jennifer Forrest-James, Room 1101) Students may express interest and are invited onto the team at the beginning of each semester.  Practices are held once a week with the exception of a performance week (daily for that week).  A performance at South is held at the end of each semester.  Meetings vary weekly from auditions until the performance date each semester.

    JAZZ BAND (Matt Wall) Members are selected from the Symphonic Band by audition (some exceptions permitted) and perform at various events and concerts. 

    ORCHESTRA (Lucy Arbini) Membership is earned by participation in the orchestra, supporting the program through special performances and projects.  Previous experience on an orchestral instrument is required and possible audition placement for top ensembles.

    SPIRIT OF ‘76 MARCHING BAND (Lisa Kinworthy/Matt Wall) These dedicated individuals perform at various events, concerts, and football games. The group consists of horn players and percussionists from the Symphonic band classes and a rhythm section of guitar, bass guitar.  During the fall season they travel weekends with their competition schedule.  Instrumental experience and audition are a requirement for this MSHSAA sponsored activity.

    THEATRE CLUB (Jennifer Forrest-James, Room 1101) Theatre club is for any student interested in theatre and production.  Meetings are held once a month.  A schedule and links will be posted on Google Classroom.  We will have fall and winter productions, and Senior One Acts.

    TRI M:  NATIONAL MUSIC HONORS SOCIETY (Lucy Arbini, Room 1218) For students currently enrolled in Band, Orchestra, or Choir. Tri-M is the only national honor society for student musicians in the country. Academic and music requirements must be met.  It highlights our school's music program and gives music students the opportunity to perform, lead, and serve our school and community.
