• Internships at the PAA


    The Parkway Alumni Association internship requires a commitment of 5-15 hours per week with flexible hours between Monday and Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. This position lasts one academic semester and can be structured to meet the requirements for academic credit in the majority of college internship programs. This is an unpaid position. A TB test, three references and a background check are required.

    Job Description

    Our interns learn about publicity, marketing, media relations, event planning, publication writing, layout and design, volunteer management, fund-raising, photography, videography and social networking in a fast-paced and unique organization.

    Interns will assist with all tasks required in a busy non-profit environment such as answering phones, writing and proofreading, database management, editing, handling mailings and e-blasts, coordinating events, and working on media pitches and materials. Successful candidates must be self-starters, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, good manners and a willingness to speak up. Must be competent in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

    Tasks and Qualifications

    • Assist with planning and execution of events
    • Talk to print, broadcast, radio and web journalists
    • Write, proofread and edit materials as needed/ some layout experience is helpful
    • Answer phones as needed
    • Perform database management
    • Write press releases
    • Write web site articles/conduct interviews
    • Web research
    • Be willing to go onsite to photograph events
    • Capable of shooting short videos
