Ron Edwards Scholars Program at River Bend Elementary
River Bend has its legends. And one of the most generous has been Ron Edwards. Not only was he the physical education teacher at River Bend Elementary, but he was also present at every Fourth of July parade with candy in hand to share with the children, at school functions for many years after his retirement, and sometimes just dropping in at the pool with gifts for the youngsters. Ron Edwards has given and given to the community in which he chose to live, especially to the students at River Bend Elementary. Now it is our turn to give back.
Please join us in honoring Ron Edwards by continuing his legacy of giving to our future by donating to the Ron Edwards Scholars Program. With the financial donations that are contributed, books will be purchased to distribute to River Bend Elementary students who would not otherwise be able to purchase a book at the fall book fair. We are asking for monetary donations now, so we can take advantage of the upcoming Scholastic spring two-for-one sale in preparation for the book fair give-away. Books will be stored at RBE.
In addition to new books, we would like to collect like-new books from our community. Sometimes duplicates happen, and some children read a book just once. These donated books can be used to add to the selection of thefree books and will also be stored at RBE. Donations can be made there or to the RBA directors during the summer.
Donations may be made by clicking the link below or by sending checks to the Parkway Alumni Association, 455 N Woods Mill Rd, Chesterfield, MO 63017. (Please put the Ron Edwards Scholars in the memo line).
We hope the “gift” that Ron Edwards has been to this community for so long will live on through the Ron Edwards Scholars Program for years to come. Please help us to make this initial kickoff a smashing success that rightfully honors such a giving, kind educator and friend to many.
