The Sharon Wilkes Homire (1961-2007) Award
Sharon Wilkes Homire was a 1979 graduate of Parkway West High School. She was an excellent student, who loved to learn and highly valued her academic experience. In addition to her
classwork, Sharon loved athletics. She was a standout member of the track, cross country and softball teams. What distinguished Sharon was her enthusiasm and positive spirit, which she
brought to all her endeavors.
After Parkway West, Sharon graduated from Indiana University and then, St. Louis University School of Law. She married, had two daughters and was a respected and successful attorney in
St. Louis. She fought a brave and years-long battle with breast cancer, to which she finally succumbed in 2007.
Sharon touched the lives of many people. Each of them is a better person for having known her. They will all remember her with great love. She was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter,
sister, family member, colleague and friend.
Those who knew Sharon would like to cherish her memory with an award that is given annually to the senior member of the Parkway West women’s track team who, like Sharon did,
demonstrates academic excellence, athletic determination and enthusiasm.
