    The PSAT/NMSQT (or National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) is a preliminary version of the SAT.  There are two main reasons for taking the PSAT Test:

    • helps prepare students to take the SAT
    • a high score on the PSAT can also qualify students for the National Merit Recognition Program
