NON-TRADITIONAL CREDIT EARNING OPPORTUNITIES
INDEPENDENT STUDY
An Independent Study Course is a course mutually developed and designed by a student and supervising instructor to explore a subject area that is not offered in a course already being taught in Parkway. The following procedure should be followed:
- Student needs to contact the appropriate teacher to discuss possible areas of study.
- Together, the teacher and student in conjunction with the Department Chair should define the proposal with the following: Desired Results; Assessment Evidence; and Learning Plan, outlining specific assignments, topics, timelines, and meetings for which the student will receive ½ credit (per semester).
- The final Independent Study Course Proposal must be submitted via this link.
MISSOURI COURSE ACCESS PROGRAM (MOCAP)
MOCAP provides Parkway enrolled students the opportunity to participate in on-line courses in a variety of grade levels and content areas. You are encouraged to contact your counselor to discuss your plans. For more information visit: www.mocap.mo.gov
PARKWAY/MARYVILLE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE ADMISSIONS SUMMER PROGRAM
Students will explore college options through guided internet research, college campus visits, and guest speakers from a variety of universities. Students will gain a better understanding of admission standards, majors/minors, financial assistance, and more. ACT/SAT preparation and career skills will also be options available to study. CORRESPONDENCE COURSES
Students who need credit recovery may take up to two credits (four classes) via correspondence. Correspondence Course fees are set by the company or institution offering credit recovery. See your counselor for more information.
SUMMER SCHOOL
Summer school courses are offered for remediation and enrichment. Courses taken during the summer do count in a student’s GPA. Please see your counselor for more information.
