The Parkway-Rockwood Adult Education and Literacy/English as a Second Language Program has been around since 1969. We offer free Adult Basic Education and High School Equivalency Test Prep classes as well as English as a Second Language and Citizenship classes. During the 2020 fiscal year, the Parkway-Rockwood AEL Program served over 1200 adult students, over half of whom were ESL adults.
We offer classes in the following school districts: Parkway, Rockwood, Pattonville, Clayton, Ladue, Brentwood, Hazelwood and Maplewood-Richmond Heights. Students do not have to be residents of any of these districts in order to enroll in our classes.
Parkway was designated as a STAR Program from the Continuous Quality Improvement review conducted by the Missouri Adult Education and Literacy Section of Department of Elementary and Secondary Education during the fiscal year 2011.
We are funded with federal and state monies. The Missouri State Board of Education is responsible for administering our program in cooperation with the local school districts we serve.
