Board of Education approves leadership profile for next superintendent
10/9/24 -- More than 1,400 voices from the Parkway community helped shape the leadership profile for our next superintendent. On October 9, the Board of Education approved the competencies and qualities that will be used by our search firm to identify ideal candidates. The leadership profile was developed with input that parents, district staff, students, and community members provided through focus groups and an online survey. Parkway Community Online Survey
9/28/24 -- Thank you to those who participated in the survey to help us define the characteristics, skills, and qualities needed in Parkway’s next superintendent. The survey closed on September 28. Results will be used by our search firm to develop a leadership profile to identify potential candidates.
Superintendent search process finalized
9/9/24 -- The Parkway Board of Education met with the national search firm Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA) on September 4 to establish the process and timeline for selecting Parkway's next superintendent.
Throughout September, HYA will focus on developing a comprehensive leadership profile that reflects the characteristics, skills, and qualities the Parkway community seeks in its next superintendent.
Input from students, parents, staff, community members, and other key stakeholders will be gathered through an online survey and approximately 20 focus groups. The leadership profile will be approved by the Board and used to guide the identification and evaluation of potential candidates.
"The voices of our community are essential in this process," said Jeff Todd, Parkway Board of Education President. "We want to ensure that our next superintendent reflects the Parkway community's values, vision, and priorities. This is one of the most important decisions the Board will make, and we are committed to getting it right."
An online survey is available to the Parkway community using this link until September 28. Paper copies of the survey are available at the Parkway Administration Center, 455 N. Woods Mill Road, and the Parkway Welcome Center, 760 Woods Mill Road.
HYA plans to screen potential candidates in October. Top candidates will be interviewed by the Board in November. The Board anticipates selecting the new superintendent by early December.
Superintendent Dr. Keith Marty, who has led Parkway for the past 14 years, announced he will retire on June 30, 2025.
Superintendent search firm selected
8/29/2024 --- The Board of Education unanimously selected Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA) to lead a national search for the next superintendent of Parkway Schools at its meeting on August 28.
HYA was established in 1987 and is one of the oldest and largest national search firms, assisting more than 1,600 school boards select exceptionally talented leadership. The firm has a strong reputation for deep and meaningful community and staff engagement in its search process.
The Board and HYA will hold a public meeting on September 4 to outline the process and timeline for the search.
On June 5, Superintendent Dr. Keith Marty announced he would retire at the end of the 2024-25 school year after 14 years of leading Parkway and nearly 50 years in public education. The Board of Education expressed its intent to conduct a national search for the next superintendent and published a request for proposals on June 17. Ten firms responded.
The board then individually evaluated each of the 10 proposals based on the following criteria:- Knowledge of the Parkway School District
- Experience
- References
- Quality of the work plan
- Cost
- Timeline
- Additional services provided by the firm or individual
In a public meeting on August 20, the Board interviewed the three firms it had rated the highest. Based on members’ ratings and recommendations from that process, Board President Jeff Todd recommended HYA, and the Board voted in agreement. The cost of the contract to lead the national search is not to exceed $46,950.

As part of the search process this fall, staff, parents, students, and community members will be invited to help determine the qualities needed in our next superintendent.
