PRESENTATION, HANDOUTS & COURSE GUIDE
The staff of Parkway Central High School has been busy planning for the 2020-2021 school year. Please review the following dates and add them to your calendar for planning purposes.
Friday, January 10, 2020: High school counselors will visit 8th grade students at Parkway Central Middle School during the school day to distribute course guides and registration forms for the upcoming school year. Students who do not attend Central Middle will have an opportunity to receive their course guide and registration forms at Expo Night (see additional details below).
Friday, January 10, 2020: The course registration portal opens in Infinite Campus at 3:30 pm. As students log in to Infinite Campus, they will see core placement recommendations, as well as any additional required 9th grade courses. Students should enter elective choices until their requests equal 16 out of 16. Alternate course selections should then be entered as additional options to be considered during the scheduling process. All course requests and alternates must be entered by Wednesday, January 29. All course requests entered into the portal between January 10-29 are given equal consideration for scheduling purposes.
Thursday, January 16, 2020: All are invited to attend our annual Expo Night (formerly titled Curriculum Night) from 6:30-8:00 pm at Parkway Central High School. This is an opportunity for parents and students to be informed about our school philosophy and expectations, while also being given the opportunity to learn more information about high school courses, athletics and activities. Representatives from each department, as well as coaches and activity sponsors, will be available to answer questions about course offerings and activities. School tours will also be available throughout the evening.
Wednesday, January 29, 2020: Complete the course selection process at Registration Evening. This event provides the opportunity for students to submit the registration form, signed Infinite Campus portal printout, and Personal Plan of Study to PCHS Counseling between the hours of 3:00-7:00 pm. Counselors will be available to individually answer any remaining questions about registration. Those who are either unable to attend, or those who simply do not have additional questions, may turn in their 3 required forms directly to PCMS Counseling by noon on Wednesday, January 29.
After the course requests are tallied, a schedule of classes will be constructed. It is extremely difficult for a student to change courses after we have created a master schedule; therefore, it is very important that students and parents are thoughtful about their course requests and are committed to their selections and alternates.
The entire Parkway Central High School faculty and staff join our department in welcoming you and your student to PCHS. We look forward to the opportunity of working with you in providing meaningful educational experiences so that your student grows to his/her potential in the years ahead.
