POST Certified Police Officer Licensed St Louis Security Officer AED/CPR and First Aid Missouri Crisis Intervention Team
SERGEANT BERNIE WIDDIS
Before joining Team Security as a dispatch officer in June 2021, Bernie served 31 years with St. Louis County Police Department. On November 21, 2021, Bernie accepted an armed School Safety Officer position, for which his experience with St. Louis County well-prepared him. While with the County Bernie served in several roles, including School Resource Officer (SRO), Patrol Officer, Accident Reconstructionist, Highway Safety Officer and Neighborhood Policing Officer. In March of 2024, Bernie was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, assuming additional duties related to Patrol Response and became our Field Training Officer in recognition of his dedicated, hard work for the district and his long and distinguished career in law enforcement.
Prior to beginning his law enforcement career, Bernie served six years in the United States Marine Corps, honorably discharged in 1991. Bernie's experience and background is a great asset to Parkway's Security Team. During his police days, Bernie delivered a baby roadside. Bernie stayed in contact and that baby grew up to become a police officer. Bernie was honored to pin this young man's badge on him during his police academy graduation ceremony. This is one of several instances where Bernie displayed his professionalism and skills to help someone in need.
