ACT
-
The ACT is a national college admissions examination that consists of subject area tests in English, Mathematics, Reading, and Science. The ACT Plus Writing also includes a 30-minute writing assessment. Very, very few colleges require the writing section; check the admissions website of any college you are interested in to determine if you need to take the Writing section. Exact test dates are below.
ACT registration fees: $66 for full ACT - No Writing. $91 for ACT Plus Writing (check if your college requires writing, few do). Click here for more information.
With each ACT exam registration, the student is given four free score reports to be sent to colleges and athletic eligibility organizations. If a student chooses to send a score after the exam date, the fee is $18 per score, per college/athletic association.
For more information on the ACT, click here.
For students with a financial need, there are waivers available for the national test dates. Students must qualify to receive a fee waiver; usually this is through the Federal Lunch Program eligibility. Students should reach out to their school counselor or the College & Career Counselor to request a waiver. For more information on waivers, click here.
The Parkway School District provides every junior free of charge the opportunity to complete the ACT - No Writing in the spring of the student's junior year. The South High test will be taken by juniors on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. No initial registration or payment is required for this test. However, the student will need to follow directions to complete their registration. Specific details will be provided in March 2023 by the Parkway district assessment office. Students are given four free score reports for the district ACT just like the national test dates for the ACT.
Registration for Saturday ACT dates can be completed online at www.act.org
