• PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying) TEST

College-bound juniors are encouraged to complete this optional assessment.  There is some space available for sophomores who would like the additional practice for the SAT test.  The PSAT test measures critical reading, mathematical problem-solving, and writing skills and is considered a practice test for the SAT.  The SAT and/or the ACT are college entrance exams used in admissions decisions by colleges, if required by the college.  The PSAT is not used for admission decisions by colleges. Information about the structure of the PSAT is HERE.

The PSAT score is also used by the College Board to qualify juniors to become National Merit Semi-Finalists and Finalists.  To learn more about the National Merit Scholarship program click HERE

The PSAT will be given at South High on Wednesday, October 12, 2023.  Registration and payment for the test will be done at the bookstore. Payment is due at the time of registration.  The registration date will be announced after the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year.   Please contact Ms Stacy Morgan by email for questions concerning the PSAT exam.
